The "New Global Trends, Hong Kong Coalition" seminar was successfully held in Runnovation, subsidiary of CR Capital Management, on May 31. Mr. Leung Chun-ying, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, former chief executive of the HKSAR, and convener of Hong Kong Coalition, attended the event and delivered a welcome speech. This event was successfully held, hosted by Hong Kong Coalition, co-organized by China Resources with the site and workers provided by Runnovation, subsidiary of CR Capital Management.
Hong Kong Coalition is headed by Mr. Tung Chee-hwa and Mr. Leung Chun-ying as conveners, Mr. Tam Yiu-chung as secretary general, 11 persons including Ms. Maria Tam Wai-chu as deputy secretary generals, and over 1,500 persons from all walks of life across Hong Kong as initiators. Its purpose is that based on the "one country, two systems" principle, promote Hong Kong to overcome difficulties, start anew, and create greater glories.
Hong Kong Coalition hosted the seminar at its second anniversary, with the topic of "How Hong Kong can Open a New Chapter in Both Domestic and International Situations" at Runnovation. Nearly 20 media were invited for press coverage. In the seminar, Mr. Leung Chun-ying said the public of Hong Kong all concern about the questions that as a highly open international financial center and international trade center, how Hong Kong can maintain a high degree of openness with the consideration of its security; and how to leverage the momentum of national development to enhance its competitiveness and stabilization in this changing world. He hoped the seminar would find the answers to these questions and arouse the attention of Hong Kong.
Professor Zhang Weiwei, dean of the China Institute, Fudan University and member of the Council of China Top Think Tanks, was invited to give a speech through video-call. He analyzed the Russia-Ukraine war and the latest global situation in depth. Professor Francis T. Lui, emeritus professor and adjunct professor of the Department of Economics of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, gave a keynote speech on the Russia-Ukraine war, deglobalization and Hong Kong's development strategy, calling for vigilance against risks such as financial sanctions.
In the seminar chaired by Mr. Tam Yiu-chung, member of the NPC Standing Committee and secretary-general of the Hong Kong Coalition, Ms. Cheng Cheung Ling, chairman of the HKCPPCC (Provincial) Members Association and president of CP Pharmaceutical Group, Senator Stephen Wong, member of the Legislative Council and president of the OHKF Public Policy Institute, and Dr. Sunny Chai Ngai-chiu, Chairman of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries were invited to be guest speakers. They discussed about how Hong Kong, as an international financial center with an export-oriented economy, can start anew in the new global situation and how to open a new chapter with new strategies in both domestic and international situations. Finally, Mr. Cheung Chi-kong, president of the One Country Two Systems Research Institute and deputy secretary general of the Hong Kong Coalition, made a summary and comment.
