On December 18, CR Group celebrated the 85th anniversary of CR’s founding and the 40th anniversary of CR Group’s establishment in Shenzhen. The ceremony was attended by the entire leadership of the Group, including Wang Xiangming, Wang Cuijun, Bai Yong, Pan Fu, Wang Chuandong, Chen Xiaojun, Quan Huaqiang, Han Yuewei, and Lan Yi. External directors of the Group such as Wang Binghua, Wang Zheng, and Wu Xiaogen, along with heads of the Group’s departments, business units, and directly affiliated institutions, external directors of various business units, regional chief representatives, and representatives of employees from various units, were also present. About 3,000 people attended the event, and nearly 100,000 people watched the livestream.
The event invited former CR leaders to attend, including former Chairmen Shen Jue and Fu Yuning, former General Manager Qiao Shibo, former Deputy General Managers Liu Hu and Ding Yali, former Director Shan Jijing, former Assistant General Manager Li Liangsi, former Deputy General Manager Wang Chuncheng, and former Chief Legal Advisor Yan Biao, a ceremony was held to honor these former leaders. Additionally, the event also awarded two groups of employees still active in their positions, those who have served CR for over 40 years, and those who have served for over 30 years. Trophies were presented to representatives from both groups.
At the event, the first volume of CR History was unveiled. CR History serves as a condensed representation of the Party's century-long history and is a precious vessel for the inheritance of CR's “red genes” and the continuation of its red heritage. It answers the historical questions of “What is CR? and Why has CR been successful?” which helps everyone gain a better understanding of the past, view the present, and anticipate the future. It holds significant importance for the company's further efforts in spiritual rejuvenation, inspiring employees, enhancing their sense of mission, strengthening cohesion, and promoting the “red spirit”. The first volume of this book primarily covers the first three phases of CR's historical development, spanning from 1938 to 2000.
The Board of Directors and the management team of the Group jointly released the China Resources Group Corporate Governance. This is the first corporate governance report voluntarily disclosed by a company, vividly demonstrating CR's commitment to "Leading Business Progress." The document systematically reviews the history of governance evolution, distills corporate governance principles, and marks a new chapter in CR's corporate governance. In recent years, the construction of CR's corporate governance system has received full recognition from the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) and authoritative experts.
In his keynote speech titled "Carrying Forward the Red Gene, Creating a Bright Future," Chairman Wang Xiangming first extended festive congratulations on behalf of the Group's leadership to all CR employees. He warmly welcomed former CR leaders present at the event and sent sincere greetings to colleagues working in various fields and locations, both attending in-person and watching online. Chairman Wang stated that CR's history is a testament to practicing the Communist Party of China's original aspirations and missions; CR's story narrates the Party's pursuit of revolutionary ideals. Over the past 85 years, CR has followed the Party's lead, responding to the Party's call, intertwining its destiny with the nation's fortunes, remaining loyal to the Party's grand cause. Throughout its history, CR has undergone four transformations and five development phases, with all efforts and explorations converging on one theme: inheriting the “red gene” and continuing the “red lineage”.
Chairman Wang reflected on CR's 85-year journey, distilling it into "five principles": First, adhering to the Party's innovative theories to arm the mind, guide practice, and lead development, which is the ideological weapon for CR to accurately grasp and fulfill its mission in this era. Second, maintaining the Party's leadership and strengthening its construction to pass on the “red gene” and sustain its spirit, forming CR's 'root' and 'soul'. Third, proactively serving the Party and national agenda, focusing on Hong Kong and facing the mainland, embodying CR's unique mission and responsibility. Fourth, upholding market orientation, promoting the entrepreneurial spirit, and driving reform and innovation, which is the key for CR's growth from small to big, and from big to strong. Fifth, maintaining a systemic concept, aligning strategy, organization, and culture, deeply promoting the "Four Reshaping" initiatives: value reshaping, business reshaping, organizational reshaping, and spirit reshaping, which forms the management philosophy and working method for CR to build a learning and transformative organization.
Chairman Wang outlined five key directives for CR's centennial journey: First, to unwaveringly navigate the company's development with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guiding light. Second, to reinforce the Party's leadership and stringent governance, using quality Party building as a vital foundation. Third, to focus on high-quality development, strategically balancing both emerging and traditional industries to enhance core competitiveness. Fourth, to prioritize matters of national significance and national interests, to actively play a core role, actively contributing to national strategies and enhancing Hong Kong's integration into the national development. Lastly, to aim for world-class enterprise status by developing a unique state-owned capital investment model, setting a new benchmark for modern state enterprises.
Chairman Wang expressed, "Today, as we commemorate CR's '85&40', it's not just about recording or recalling history, but about seizing the present and shaping the future. Let the CR story and spirit inspire every one of us to strive towards becoming a world-class enterprise, and to make greater achievements in China's modernization journey. Let us always define ourselves with perseverance, carry forward our “red gene” legacy, and jointly create a splendid future!
