Released:2022-05-10

Since the fifth wave of the COVID-19 epidemic hit Hong Kong, for ensuring the medical supplies, daily necessities, people’s safety and health, and the social stability in Hong Kong, CR Group, China Merchants Group, GD Holdings, Sinopec HK, PetroChina Hong Kong Representative Office, Chu Kong Shipping Enterprises and other State-owned enterprises in Hong Kong have firmly implemented the epidemic control regulations of the Central Committee of the CPC. They act on safeguarding sufficient supplies and smooth transportation, stabilize the commodity prices at any cost, and battle against the epidemic.

Safeguard the Road Transportation of Fresh Food

In order to stabilize the supply of fresh food in the Hong Kong market, these state-owned enterprises have carried out cross-border transportation day and night despite difficulties. Hit by the epidemic, CR NG Fung and GDH Guangnan Hong Company have only a small number of drivers to shift between Shenzhen and Hong Kong for seven times a day with nearly doubled working hours. They often worked late to ensure the timely delivery of fresh food before the next sunrise.

Build the First Water Route to Hong Kong

Due to the epidemic, cross-border road transport of fresh food in Hong Kong was blocked in mid-February, and supplies shortage occurred in the market. Chu Kong Shipping Enterprises overcame many difficulties concerning supply organization, port support and supervision and coordination. With the support of the customs and border inspection departments of the mainland and Hong Kong, the first Panyu-Yau Ma Tei water route was opened on February 19, a new channel for guaranteeing the cross-border transportation of daily necessities for Hong Kong.

Launch the First Dedicated Train to Hong Kong

In order to expand the transportation channels for materials supplied to Hong Kong for Hong Kong’s fight against the epidemic, Sinotrans, a subsidiary of China Merchants Group, quickly set up a special team that formulated a "door-to-door" multimodal transport planning for railway trains. They took the initiative to allocate logistics resources between Guangdong and Hong Kong and completed the preparations within only one week. The first railway train the Central Committee of CPC launched for Hong Kong came into service on March 2. A multimodal logistics channel between Shenzhen and Hong Kong was launched as a supplement to the comprehensive supplies transportation system.

Stabilize Supermarket Supply Regardless of Cost

As one of the three leading enterprises in Hong Kong's supermarket industry, CR Vanguard acted quickly to build a procurement team and increased the supplies of goods. It gave priority to the supply of vegetables, fruits, meat and poultry, and ensured the good quality and stable prices of fresh food. Logistics warehouses keep running for 24 hours to ensure the timely delivery of goods and calm the citizens with full shelves.

Due to workers infected during the epidemic, the Sheung Shui slaughterhouse was suspended at the end of February, so fresh meat was in short supply in the Hong Kong market. CR NG Fung immediately sent skilled personnel to support Hong Kong. A special team of 38 skilled slaughterers from Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Nanning, and Xilin Gol League went to Hong Kong in early March to assist Hong Kong. They are passionate young talents with rich experience. Among them was a mother who took on the challenge to set an example for her children with her bravery and perseverance. Thanks to the efforts of all parties, the Sheung Shui slaughterhouse reopened on March 7, and the citizens purchased fresh pork that had not been available for days.

Ensure the Supply of Fuels in Hong Kong

In the critical moment of the epidemic, Sinopec HK and PetroChina Hong Kong Representative Office monitored and scientifically allocated oil and gas inventories to maintain the normal service of over 70 gas stations, ensuring continuous supplies, stable prices, and uninterrupted services. Sinopec HK provided special services for 300 cabs and 200 small and medium-sized buses for the epidemic, and 24-hour services of diesel refueling for the construction sites of eight quarantine units, including Chok Ko Wan, Kai Tak, Yuen Long, Hung Shui Kiu and Tsing Yi. PetroChina Hong Kong Representative Office transported biofuel from the mainland and worked with other state-owned enterprises to ensure the supply of aviation fuel at Hong Kong International Airport.

State-owned enterprises in Hong Kong took on the challenges and contributed to ensuring the normal life of people in Hong Kong, providing a solid guarantee for the battle against the epidemic.
